InactiveAs the only Minecraft mod in homage to the Dragon Ball series, you’d expect for its combat to stray off from the status quo of spam clicking in Minecraft. While I appreciate everything that’s been done with this mod to change this as much as possible, there are still lingering issues with the fighting in this mod. The stamina system does limit this to a degree, but when it comes down to watching two people fight the usual mundane sight of Minecraft avatars flailing their right arms at each other is still very prevalent. THAT IS WHY! …I suggest a revolution.
This spectre of boring-looking combat that’s haunting Dragon Block C should be stopped with entirely new animations for punches, with right and left arms being used, and dare I say maybe even KICKS. Yeah. This just got real.
I suggest a system where a combination of left and right clicks leads to specific combos, similar to Xenoverse 2. Yes, this would mean that the blocking mechanic would no longer be on right click, but rather on a keydown (I suggest ‘T’ since it’s not taken and pretty close to the “WASD” directional keys) which I’m sure won’t take long for people to get accustomed to anyway. To take it a step further, the option to customize your basic attacks would completely revolutionize and diversify gameplay. In all honesty, a combat system different from the usual Minecraft functions, and especially looks, would appeal to a wider community than just the Dragon Ball fanbase.
The movements for Ki attacks aren’t exactly fluid either. Firing a blast consists of a simple one frame hand up animation, much like beams and disks. New animations for powering up Ki attacks is something that I’ve been wanting more than that Space Update in that one Devblog or a SSJ Tier 3 green recolor- I mean LSSJ.
I’ll admit, these changes are really far out. However, I definitely also think that there’s future updates and already available resources that could help this noble combat revolution. The addition of limbs to the mod is certainly a step closer, and while I have no idea to what extent this might help or the permissions involved and whatnot, there’s an Animation API out there that’s been used to animate players before.
I’m in no way trying to insult Jin’s attempt at making something fresh and new by making this post, and if my suggestions have been interpreted that way I’m sorry. Thanks for reading this arduously long monstrosity and let me hear your comments on my suggestions!

ParticipantWell I ain’t sure if you’re well aware of how hardcore would be to code a proper fighting animation API using Minecraft as an engine and framework. And the API you’re talkin’bout, while being a good work, is still VERY limited because Minecraft’s animation is limited. Whatever you do with mods you can’t ignore the limits of the vanilla game.
And your suggestion for combos and all is good but you forgot that…we’re in Minecraft. Such complex fighting fits for a fighting game, but here it’s closer to an action RPG. So the combat must say very simple.
But otherwise what to say ? You’re right on everything, fighting looks boring in DBC, and I’ve always hated spam-click. -

InactiveIn reference to another post, improved and varied combat animations have been done with the Mo Bends Mod (And honestly I should just use this whenever I play Dragon Block C from now on). I do understand this isn’t something that’s easy to do though. Moreso with my suggestion of better mechanics for fighting, but I still wish that it’d evolve from just:
spam click
take a 3 second break to regen stamina
rinse and repeat
