  Ok dragon ball z fans. Help me settle an arguement on youtube. There is a bit of a flame war cause this one guy says that super saiyan god super saiyan or super saiyan blue was achieved cause Goku needed 5 people. He claims that Goku was able to go red on his own and he needed 5 saiyans to achieve ssgss….that’s what I got so far… So tell me. How DID Goku achieve super saiyan god and super saiyan god super saiyan?

  Well considering the Battle Of Gods movie is not canon because of the BOG Super arc. Goku needs 5 saiyans of pure heart to be able to ascend to the level of a just SSG. SSGSS Was achieved, according to Super, that when Goku and Vegeta trained with Whis they had to have complete control of Ki, not letting it erupt like they used to. So 5 saiyan ritual is just for SSG. After that according to the DBS manga. He can transform into both god forms at will.

    So yeah, 5 saiyans for Red. Whis’s training for Blue. Goku can transform into both forms at will.

  Wait in super does he ever transform to ssg? I know he can in the manga

    That’s one of the points where Super and the Manga differ because he only does it once in the anime (So far) and that was to fight Beerus. Other than that he has transformed into SSG 3 times in the Manga. When he fought Beerus, When he first fought Hit in the tournament, and also when he was showing Trunks his power when he showed up for help against Black.

  Super Saiyan God just gave Goku God Ki, it did not give him Super Saiyan Blue, Vegeta achieved Goku’s level of power after the God Ritual and obtained God Ki by training with Whis.
  
  This is why Goku and Vegeta seem to have obtained Super Saiyan Blue around the same time despite Vegeta training much longer than Goku, it isn’t a difference in skill or learning, it was because Goku already had God Ki due to the ritual where as Vegeta needed to get God Ki via Whis’ training.
